NEW! Solar Ballast Blocks

Ballasted Ground Mount for Solar Racking Systems.... The remedy for difficult ground conditions.

More and more, the solar industry is faced with the challenge of utilizing less than pristine ground to locate community, commercial, and utility scale solar projects. Landfills, brownfields, rocky soil conditions, and “reclaimed” / unusable ground, are all attractive sites for solar installations if designed and built correctly. Ballast blocks offer the option of an alternative foundation, should the site yield areas of “refusal.”

Unlike ugly plastic “tubs,” the Briggs Ballast block is an esthetically appealing, smooth molded concrete block with an exclusive built-in “center eye bolt” for balanced lifting, pivoting, and positioning on site. This feature greatly reduces the stress on field personnel, improves production, and enhances the safety factor. The blocks can be designed to accommodate many of the robust racking systems currently on the market.

The standard size ballast block meets 110mph wind load. If higher wind speeds are encountered, our engineers will provide a solution to meet the project specific design load requirements.

A rough finish is applied to the underside of every block to reduce slippage.

Briggs Ballast Blocks are available throughout the 7 western States. With our unique casting system, the ability to service any region in the west is an integral part of the business model and greatly reduces freight costs. Once the layout and preliminary design is completed, a budgetary estimate can be prepared quickly.

Full engineering assistance is available to meet any system design, load criteria, and array connection conditions.
